Last week one of our blog sisters shared a story called Red Thumb Reminder Now I'll normally ignore these
or
listen to a few minutes
but this one hit home
you see
I have a confession to make
I text and drive
I like to pretend that I don't
but I do
I usually wait until I'm stopped at a light to actually type
but I look at my phone way too much.
and I need to stop
period
so
I painted my right thumb red
so that every time I pick up my phone
and unlock it
I can see
my one red nail
telling me
to
STOP
and the results -- one week in
much reduce
very much reduce
less and less each day
more
pick up the phone
see it
put it down
will I stop completely?
hard to say
but come monday it gets another coat of paint.
well done you! I missed the red thumb theme but what a good idea. I am fortunate not to have this problem. Maybe its the generation to which I belong, I have no facebook identity, I tried instagram (I prefer well thought out and rendered images and I'm not a selfie kind of girl), i had a go at tumblr (I can't remember the password). The only things I seem to be able to attend to, is blogger and email. I think there is a vicarious thrill to connection through device media, maybe even a validation of ones own likability.
ReplyDeleteOr ...
maybe we just like technology and our 'friends' connections.
keep up the good red thumb work
I don't really text and drive. But I do do it at red lights and in traffic jams. Because... yeah.
ReplyDeleteBut I do know it's dangerous (and illegal here). But I still do it a bit. And I think I'm going to try the red thumb thing.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to explain it in French.
Thanks
Good for you!
