Quiet time

So

I've been sick.

I have asthma - have had it all my life
and it's well controlled

until

allergies kick in
and

then I can be brought down pretty fast

so I have bronchitis

and now

I'm on the mend

but I've lost my voice

completely

as in

not a peep
not a squeak

silence

I talk for a living so this is difficult for me

and because of that I had to talk a lot today with a scratchy voice

and pretty much brought this on myself

I've been to the doctor and got FIVE prescriptions

yes

Five

Antibiotic
Inhaler
Asthma/Allergy control
Cough syrup
Steroids

and

silence

on the bright side

I am feeling much much better -- which is typical
I get the asthma and the allergies under control

and the laryngitis is what remains

so I get all the sympathy
after I actually don't feel that bad.

and

you may have noticed I'm being quiet about some other things too

well

I'll talk about other things when I'm ready to

which is most likely about the same time I'll get my voice back.

  1. I feel for you! Get better soon! Have you ever tried going to a homeopath? It worked for me

  2. I might have to try it Ashly -- at this point I'm hoping that the drugs work (homeopaths are not on my health plan)

  3. Good Luck and feel better soon! BTW.. I've found that a maintenance level of allergy or asthma meds during allergy season seems to ward off the bronchitis. Took me a long time to learn as I don't like to take meds all the time.. but it seems to work for me. Something to talk with your Dr perhaps.
Meanwhile.. shhhhhhh and get well soon!

  4. sending hugs and whammies...I've walked in those silent shoes of yours...and being voiceless is so *wicked* frustrating, isn't it? It makes me mad, and annoyed (and tightens those chords even more)...

so be a good girl and take your meds and your quiet talk, and a pda/cell phone to quick type messages to people you are talking to.... :) thank goodness for technology, eh?
