A busy day

My dear friend is in town
we selected bridesmaid dressed (I will be falling out of mine -- but so be it)

and had a nice lunch
and shopped

and socialized
sitting around a fire on a warm winter's night

and

It made me smile

because this is part of what I want
Tex at my side
sitting around a fire

surrounded by close friends
laughing and sharing a drink

and then going inside to curl up together

I could picture him there with me
baby tucked in safely in her room
as we enjoy the night

now it's time
I'll curl into my own bed alone

not my favorite thing
but thinking of him
is better
than having no hope of it
and I"ll drift off with a smile
nonetheless
