Here I am again
on the verge of laryngitis
again
third time this year
and yes
it's time to go see a specialist about it
because this isn't normal
of course
I'm wondering if I need to see the specialist when I'm sick
or when I'm well
I'm going to opt for sick
the insane thing is
I feel fine
I sound bad
and not as bad as I'm likely to sound tomorrow
or the next day
on top of it
I'm missing him
and he has a long weekend with the kids
which means little time for us
and most of the time I'm a big girl about it
but
I just miss him
I do
which is a good thing
right?
well -- off to (quietly) do my chores
and rest my voice
Love,
B
Everytime you get sick it breaks my heart. I used to get larangytis all the time too. Turned out it was my stomach and I had really bad reflux. I don't get heartburn at all. But when I'd get a cold the acid would get extra bad and fry my vocal cords. Trying to teach with no voice for weeks on end was awful! Nothing hurt at all other than the sure throat from being sick. I haven't had larangytis in at least five years since dealing with the stomach. And really don't get sick at all anymore. It's called Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease (LPRD). Not saying it's what's wrong but what you're dealing with sounds so much like what I was. No matter what it is I hope you're feeling better quickly.
ReplyDeleteOh Chicadee -- what a sweet message. Mine is most definitely related to my allergies -- which are vicious this time of year. Normally I can just suffer through and worry about the allergies -- but it's time to see if there's actually something wrong in there -- 3 times in one year is just silly.
DeleteThey love it at work btw.
Missing him is a good thing
ReplyDeleteIt's how we deal with us that is the hard part :)
Rest and YES go make the Dr. appointment.

xing my fingers that you get your issue looked into speedily. I had a run in my 20's like that, spent 10 days writing notes to everyone because I was forbidden to speak or risk damaging my vocal chords permanently. It was a HUGE pain in the ass, so I very much feel for you. Hugs and whammies and lots of tea with honey...

OMG...I just read chickadee's response...and yanno...I too had my stomach looked at (I have GERD)...which is also a reflux issue. I've been taking stomach meds for years for my sore tummy, but I forgot that it dramatically helped with my laryngitis. Yes. Duh.
